There is a tradition that has arisen in recent years of selecting a personal “word of the year.”
People choose their word carefully and with deliberate intent, knowing they will use it as a guiding light and a reminder of personal priority in the months ahead. We love the idea. We support any practice that helps you feel happier, clearer, or more intentional.  However, we would refine the practice just slightly and encourage you to choose not just a word, but a “vibe of the year.”

If you were to reach the end of the year feeling, for example, more joyful, calmer, clearer, more enthusiastic, hopeful, or vital—we would celebrate with you.  A new vibration and all the life changes that go along with it are within reach, no matter where you start today.

To choose your “vibe of the year,” simply ask yourself, “Dear Divine Spirit, what is the most beneficial vibration for me to focus on during the year ahead?”  Trust the very first thing you hear.

The ultimate vibration is, of course, love. If you lived in love with yourself and all of life a majority of the time, many of your problems would melt away. However, within the vast spectrum of love, there are many vibrations, and some that will feel more like love to you right here and now.

Once you have your vibration, ask yourself: How can I experience more of this vibe today? What small changes can I make? What would I need to release?

For example, suppose the vibration of vitality arises as important in your life right now. What small change could help you experience more vitality? Perhaps you can drink a little more water. Some of you might enjoy more rest, while others will want to walk or practice gentle movement to feel more vital. You can inhale the fresh morning air or turn off your electronics for a few minutes of silence before bed. There are so many small ways to experience the vibration of vitality—even with a body that is struggling, and even before you heal.

Suppose the vibration that arises is joy. How can you add a little more joy to each day? Perhaps you can make your favorite beverage and spend a few quiet minutes savoring it each morning. Maybe you can order a meal service if cooking doesn’t delight you, or spend more time in the kitchen if it does. You can let your calls go to voicemail to finish a task that is important to you, or you can call your dear ones more often. What feels like joy to one person will be different for another. Suppose your desired vibration is peace. What small changes might bring more peace into your life?
